Arizona is geographically a large state of almost 114,000 square miles, (6th largest in the US), most of the popluation is based in the Phoenix metro area.  The next largest county is Pima county, which includes Tucson, the 2nd largest city in Arizona, with about 550,000 residents.   As a basis of comparison, (which appraisers like to do), Maricopa county has almost 2 million individual land parcels, compared to the next largest county (Pima), with almost 800,000 parcels.   At 2 million parcels, Maricopa county has more land parcels than almost any other county in the United States.
